The Month's Presentation: “The Affordable, Hoping to Be Affordable, and the (Completely) Unaffordable”

Scott Ginder and Rommel Sulit of Forge Craft Architecture + Design is this month’s presenter. Ginder will discuss Forge Craft’s efforts to bridge the dichotomy between relatively unaffordable work (custom homes) and work that is intently affordable (affordable housing). The work scratches the same design itch regardless of the price point. A common, value-driven building material can be used in an inspiring way and can equal the inherent design value of a rich, expensive material. The presentation will focus on three tenets at the heart of the discussion of housing – policy, design, and technology.

What to Expect at Architalks

Inspiration. Insight. Discussion.

This series showcases Austin’s diverse and talented community of architects and designers, with each installment focusing on an individual or collective and their unique approach to their work. Architalks at Articulture is presented by the Austin Foundation for Architecture in collaboration with venue sponsor Articulture Designs, event sponsor Builders FirstSource, and series founder/organizer Scott Harvey.

The talks are usually 45 minutes, with time for a few questions at the end. The talk is in the equally-inspiring Articulture gardens. So come early, relax, look around. Have a great time!

Wine and beer will be provided along with some snacks and soft drinks.

If the parking lot is full upon arrival, there is ample parking available here

RAIN DATE: ArchiTalks is held outdoors. In case of inclement weather, the rain date is set for the following Wednesday, October 20th.
