Air plant - Tillandsia Tectorum
Air plant - Tillandsia Tectorum
These tillandsias (aka, air plants) are delightful! The Tectorum is a rarer air plant to find, and is one of the best air plants for those who tend to forget to water their plants. Tectorum features silvery-white colored "fuzz", also known as trichomes, which naturally reflects sunlight, essentially shielding the plant from direct sunlight to help it from drying out. Mist this plant 2-3 times weekly and keep out of very-humid environments.
Air plants require no soil, so get creative and have fun with these treasures of the plant world. (See easy care info below.)
Care Instructions
Talk about a hard plant to kill. Tillandsias don’t even require soil. They drink and eat through their “leaves.”
Once wet, more water doesn’t do a thing. Wet ‘em and leave ‘em.
But be sure to shake off excess water. Do not let water pool in the tillandsia (this will cause rot)
To water, simply mist with water bottle about once every week or two.
If you missed a cycle, don’t worry, and don’t try to make up for it.
Watering too often can make the center area rot, so don’t overfuss.
If the tips of leaves are “pinching up” and you haven’t watered recently, it’s time to water.
