Plant Care Specialist / Plantscape Installation
To be qualified for this position you must be a dependable, hardworking, and maintain a positive attitude. We are close-knit team, and team chemistry is just as important as job skill. You also must be a quick learner, quick on your feet, and have the ability to handle random tasks with confidence in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Some specific qualifications include (but are not limited to):
Have solid plant knowledge and experience caring for plants
Experience interacting with clients
Have own reliable transportation
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds independently
Able to climb ladders and work on ladders
Experience using drills, saws, and other power tools, as well as pruners, scissors, and other sharp objects
You must be detail-oriented; we don’t do good work, we do great work
About the Job
There are three main components of this position: 1) Plant care and maintenance; 2) plantscape installations; 3) customer service.
1) Plant Care & Maintenance
You will be responsible for a set group of clients on a set schedule to keep their plants and plantscapes in a beautiful, healthy state. Regular plant maintenance includes (but is not limited to):
Watering and fertilizing all plants as necessary
Maintaining appropriate light conditions and orientation
Deadheading (removing any damaged or unsightly leaves, etc.)
Pruning, trimming, and removing debris from planters
Keeping all plants free from diseases and insects
Maintaining beautiful appearance of top dressing and other ornamental elements
Preventing damage to surrounding floors, walls, carpet, furniture, etc. from water and/or moisture
Addressing client concerns and ensuring clients are happy, satisfied, and pleased with your service
2) Plantscape Installations
You will assist on a variety of plantscape installations. This can include interior or exterior container gardens, wall-mounted systems, commercial plantscapes, and more. Installations are team projects, and can include (but are not limited to):
Safely loading and unloading the material and equipment
Safely hanging and mounting wall installations with your teammates
Planting vessels with a wide variety of plants and accoutrements according to lead designer’s specifications
3) Customer Service
Providing plant maintenance will require direct interaction with clients, and installations often occur while clients are present. As such, this job requires:
Ability to communicate effectively with clients in a friendly, professional manner
Comprehend client concerns and either quickly remedy the concern, or report concern to your supervisor to come up with a solution during subsequent visit
Keep client areas and worksites clean and tidy
Answer questions about our process and firm
Provide an all-around world-class experience for all clients
In order to perform this job safely, it requires good vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, communication, and critical thinking skills. The ability to drive a van is also necessary.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
