Articulture Architalks: featuring Emily Little
Architalks: A free monthly architecture lecture series.
Sponsored by Articulture Designs and Hay Legal
Hosted by Scott Harvey of Max Avenue Realty
Doors open -- with refreshments, snacks, and good conversation -- at 6:30pm. The evening's lecture begins at dusk.
The Month's Presenter: Emily Little, FAIA
Emily Little, FAIA (Clayton & Little Architects) will deliver an original presentation, Festina Lente, which translates “make haste slowly.”
Emily has provided leadership in the preservation and design community in her native Austin for over thirty years. With an emphasis on the adaptive reuse of historic structures, her work has indelibly colored the fabric of Central Texas. Elected a fellow in the American Institute of Architects in 2009, Emily has also led award-winning community-based art projects that have garnered national attention. She was inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame in 2007. A cultural anthropologist at heart, she has built her career on making good design accessible and attainable, often by finding the small gestures that largely improve the quality of a space.
What to Expect at Architalks
Inspiration. Insight. Discussion.
The talks are usually 45 minutes, with time for a few questions at the end. The talk is in the equally-inspiring Articulture gardens. So come early, relax, look around. Have a great time!
Wine and beer will be provided along with some snacks and soft drinks. The series is free, but you must RSVP as space is limited. (And if you RSVP early, but later discover you can't make it, please let us know so we can open up your seat.)
If the parking lot is full upon arrival, there is ample parking available here.
RAIN DATE: In the case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for Wednesday, October 17th.
